5 Poker Moves Which Are Less Effective In 2013 Than They Used To Be

This post is inspired by a conversation with a poker friend last week. In addition to the usual umming and ahhing about the games getting tougher, the talk moved to the effectiveness of specific ‘moves’ at the tables. Now we can all look back fondly to the ‘golden age’ when continuation betting actually worked and 3-betting was only done with aces or kings – but I was interested enough to make a mental note to blog about the subject.

Poker Happy Hour Hunting?

After completing an article about PokerStars ‘VIP Month’ for one of my smaller sites, I have started wondering whether there are enough ‘happy hours’ around to make deliberately targeting these a good strategy?

A lot of sites have these hours, where you can earn double or 1.5x points, usually at the cash game tables. My question is whether the extra benefits from these points make it worthwhile changing up your schedule to play more during the designated times??

Quick Announcement – SNG Planet Spanish!

Some news, we just went live with the Spanish Version of SNG Planet! This is the end of several weeks of hard work for the Planet Corp team – not to mention a lot of translations going back several  months. Super Power Poker Tournaments

Poker can be repetitive after a while, and – let’s be honest – the innovations in the games have been few and far between over the years.Sure, poker has sped up, hyper-turbos and Rush / Zoom clones are now ubiquitous – but real innovations? Something to keep the recreational players interested for longer? Something to draw new players from other more ‘entertaining’ games? Well, I have not seen anything that ticks those boxes.

Thoughts And Insights From The MicroMillions

On Friday evening a rare conjunction occurred… I was feeling like a session of poker, my health was cooperating and the better half did not have any plans to get me out of my study for social reasons. I took full advantage with a big tournament session, which included some MicroMillions events as well as my more regular choices. I actually got deep in one of the events, well, 200th(ish) out of many thousands.

Dates For Your Tournament Diary
