Titan Poker Pull Out Of Canada, Finland And The Netherlands

titan exit from canada, finland, netherlandsFurther Update: Just had an email from my AM. Canada stays live after all, and existing players from FI / NL can continue to play. So, this post is now just for new players from NL / FI. Will update again as things get clearer!

Titan Poker and many associated Casino brands have pulled out of Canada, Finland and the Netherlands as of today – for existing players as well as new ones. This is due to pending legislation in those countries. I have a quick look at the alternatives for players coming from the affected geos who are looking for safe, solid and (of course!) soft alternatives.

At this moment I do not have confirmation of whether or when the other iPoker sites will follow suit. We have to assume that this is the case. This network pulled out of the US all at once, and they are based on a client run by listed PlayTech, and so are subject to regulatory rules.

Alternatives To Titan Poker For Canadian, Finnish And Dutch Players?

I’m going to assume that you played at Titan for the soft games, which only leaves 2 similar alternatives for me.

The first is OnGame. Sure, they are a smaller network nowadays, but the games are still juicy and they still offer very generous incentives. Red Kings are the place to head, this site were pioneers in mobile poker and give their players an extra $300 bonus the first time you are dealt the 2 red kings in a cash game (goes up to $500 if you lose the hand!). You’ll also get a $11 ‘fishmarket’ tournament token – a great way to check out the standard of play. See my Red Kings Poker Review for more or check them out for yourself at www.redkings.com

888 Poker are my other top choice. This is just about the only poker site with significant growth at the moment, briefly taking 3rd from Full Tilt until FTP fought back with a huge promotion. 888 aim squarely for the recreational player market, with promos and offers geared towards ‘enthusiastic amateurs’ rather than the grinder crowd.

At the moment all of the ‘deposed’ countries can claim $88 in free tourney tokens and cash game buy-ins to try out 888 Poker. This is a no-strings deal, and you can still get the 100% welcome matched bonus any time you choose. See www.888poker.com for details.

I will keep a close eye on the news, and let you know as soon as there is any update – particularly on what the other iPoker sites are doing.

GL at the tables, Mark
