Poker Tournament Promos / Events Roundup

With all the poker news being (understandably) focused on the pullouts from the US, it can be easy to overlook the fact that there are some great tournament promotions going on right at this moment. This post is an update / reminder for a few multi-table tournaments that might be of interest.

#1 – FTOPS is running, now! The events may not be as huge as they were, and the guarantees have shrunk a little… however this is still a huge poker tournament event by anybodies standards, and 6 figure wins are still the norm. This continues through to the 1st of May, and with the main event and 2-day events still to come will be making a lot of players rich!! We should note that in the absence of many full-time online tournament pros, the games will be softer than any FTOPS for many years!

#2 – SCOOP is about to start too. This one starts at Pokerstars on May 8th and is the 2nd biggest online event anywhere. Following the US pullout the guaranteed prize pool is now reduced to a mere $25 million (I expect this to be beaten, initial figures suggest that Stars have only lose 25% of their traffic). SCOOP features 3 different buy-in levels for each event, and 1000’s of satellites for those who fancy taking a shot at the big time. You can find out more on my Pokerstars SCOOP information guide page, which includes my picks for the satellites.

#3 – Party Poker Spring Million. Soft fields, a slow blind structure and a million prize pool guaranteed make Party the place to be on Sunday the 1st of May, this is a $640 event and has a ton of satellites (including points and $1 entry events) which should ensure that the field is big and easy. I’m actually wondering whether the US pullouts and resulting traffic going to Party will mean that they can run a ‘Sunday Million’ every week at some point soon – we’ll have to see! Party are a great choice for tournament players, my bonus code there = SNGPLANET for your initial 100% to $500 match, Party are very generous with extra bonuses after that. #4 – World Series Of Poker Qualifiers: Not specific to one site, however most of the majors now have their 2011 qualifiers up and running. Check out my page entitled ‘Best WSOP Qualifiers’ where I just added Full Tilt and Titan Poker to the list of sites whose satellites are up and running now. I’ll be playing a few myself this year! I think that is that for the current tournament promos, I will keep you up to date as anything more arises.

Gl at the tables, Mark
