September – My Favorite Poker Month

September is always a great month for poker, and 2014 is no exception. At this time of year poker sites emerge from their summer lull. They kick of huge events, restart their fight for players with competing offers and announce qualifiers for live events in the fall. To top it all, there is the World Championship of Online Poker about to get going.

This post gives you a flavor of what is in store for poker fans this September. You’ll find US and International Events, a couple of interesting offers – and a preview of the WCOOP too.

What is Happening in US Poker for September 2014?

The offshore sites have been busy. You’ll find a big tournament event about to start at Carbon. The announcement of the first $1 million US tournament (satellites running) and an ongoing Football-linked poker promo at Bovada.

Carbon Online Poker Series (COPs) Event – This starts on September 16th and has $2,000,000 in total guarantees, the main event itself has a $250k guarantee. These events are always busy at Carbon and you can win your seats in qualifiers which are running now. See the schedule over at www.carbonpoker.ag

Bovada’s Poker Bowl promo is worth a look – you choose from one of 8 divisions and get bonus prizes and tournament tokens for collecting points. This is billed as a $15k Superbowl prize package. Don’t forget that Bovada have the only ‘Fast-Fold’ poker game for US players.

The Winning Poker Network via America’s Cardroom has announced the first $1 Million online poker tournament for US players since before Black Friday. This does not take place until the 14th of December, and qualifiers are already running. Somebody is going be very rich indeed in time for the Holiday season.

September Events and Deals for International Players

Outside the US in Poker's ‘World of the Free’ there are a lot more events and offers.

Party have a $500k Guaranteed Sunday tournament on the 21st Sept, up from their usual $200k (satellites running now). Titan (iPoker) has a ‘Super Sunday’, where the prizes have gone up for 7 of the best Sunday tournaments, while the buy-ins stay the same (on the 7th). Red Kings are currently pushing the Grand, while 888 have satellites to the ‘Battle of Malta’ highlighted.

All of these pale into insignificance compared to the World Championship, which starts on the 7th and runs through to the 28th. There are two separate ways SNG Planet readers can benefit from the biggest event of the year:

  • You could fill your bankroll with Tournament Dollars by playing a lot of the super-soft satellite qualifiers and then unregistering from the target event.
  • Or you could enter the events themselves and fight your way to a decent share of the $40 million in guaranteed prize money.

Most of you will already have a PokerStars account by now. If not then here is how you can claim up to 3 ‘first deposit’ bonuses.

  • First register, choose Affiliate Marketing Code from the drop-down and put PSP3108 into the box that will appear.
  • Then deposit with bonus code STARS600 (works 3 times, within 90 days for 100% up to $600 in total)… You could also choose FREE20 instead, this gets you $20 instantly and up to 14 $1 Sit N Go tokens.

Stars are (literally) created in poker every time the WCOOP comes along. The buy-ins and tournament types on offer are very diverse, including the new Progressive knockouts, zoom games and just about every poker variation you can imagine.
