PlayTech Jackpot Slots Overview

Once a slot software brand becomes popular, they are able to start pooling jackpots.

This is why the PlayTech progressives get so big. Not only are they shared between different slot titles in groups – they are shared between many different casinos. You can win a life-changing PlayTech progressive at any number of casinos. You do need to be careful, some brands have tight withdrawal limits, and some are more trustworthy than others.

Many PlayTech Jackpots are Random

Examples here include the ‘Age of the Gods’ progressives, and the DC Comics ‘Superhero Progressives’.

Instead of lining up a combination of symbols, these jackpots are paid via a randomly triggered picks game. This can come up with any bet amount, though the more you bet the higher the chances.

Both jackpots have 4 levels. You’ll see a screen like the one below and pick tiles until you trigger one of the prizes. You have a shot at all of them each time. The way these games work is that there are more picks for the lower amounts – so you’ll get these more often.

PlayTech Jackpot Picks

Some jackpots do require a minimum bet level. The main example is the Jackpot Giant slot. Here you need to bet max to win the prize. If your bankroll is smaller, then the Superheroes or Age of the Gods pools are a better pick.

You can see the latest jackpot levels via the ‘Jackpots’ tab (on the right) over at www.bgo.com!

DC Comics ‘Superheroes’ Slot Jackpots

Green Lantern DC Jackpot SlotThese took over from the Marvel jackpots – after the deal between PlayTech and the owners of that brand expired.

Not only is there a huge progressive pool, the DC Superheroes slots are some of the best in the PlayTech range.

At the time of writing, this prize pool is $222,222 – though it does go over half a million at times. There are 3 other levels below this. All of them are won via the randomly triggered picks game, which can be hit with any bet size.

Here are my suggestions (these are all excellent slots – so do try them all):

Green Lantern: This slot has some novel game-play. It also has a cool design, with the Green Lantern himself to the left of the reels coming to life during the bonus games. Cascading wins are the most obvious feature. When you win, the symbols explode, allowing more symbols to drop in. This creates sequences of wins at times. The bonus games are triggered by longer sequences of wins. When you hit them, the game really comes to life – with extra wilds, sticky wilds and expanding symbols coming into play. This is my go-to for the DC comics slots range and I recommend it as your starting point. Find out more in my detailed Green Lantern slot review.

Batman vs Superman: An excellent game, though for me the graphics are a little ‘cheesy’ at times. Batman and Superman do battle right on the reels when they meet. This gives you more action than waiting for a separate bonus round to hit. There are bonus games too. You can win the Superheroes jackpot at any spin level – via the standard separate picks game.

Other DC Superheroes slots worth checking out include: The Dark Knight Rises, Batman Returns and Justice League.

Age of the Gods Jackpot Slots

Age of the Gods JackpotsPlayTech are big on slots with myths themes. There are 7 to choose from with the ‘Age of the Gods’ range – and all of them are high quality. They share a jackpot, which again is randomly triggered via a picks game at any bet level. Many of the bonus games also have big win potential.

Here are the titles, together with a quick summary of what makes them worth a spin.

  • Age of the Gods: This is the original from the range and involves 4 gods. Each has a free spins bonus, with different ways of improving your wins each time. If you like a solid base game, this is a great place to start.
  • Fate Sisters: 3 sisters control your fate in this title. Once again, each offers something different in the free spins bonus. You can also get a random ‘gift from the sisters’ in the base game. Not the greatest graphics, though this is an enjoyable game.
  • Medusa and Monsters: Completely different to the other Age of the Gods slots. You get 6 reels, 164 win-lines and Medusa wilds. The free spins games are worth hitting as big winning symbols get ‘petrified’ and become locked in place. This is an interesting game – the Superheroes jackpot only makes it better.
  • Prince of Olympus: I like the graphics of this game. The best part is a bonus game where you battle a multi-headed hydra. Thee are also free spins and wilds. If this is the direction that this range of slots is headed, then I am looking forward to the next one.
  • Furious 4: This time the free spins bonus games are based on ‘ages’. The format is familiar, though you can get extra spins in each bonus game with enhanced pays. Age of Iron is my pick, though there is plenty of action in each of the bonuses.
  • God of Storms: The main reason this game stands out from the others is that there is no distinct free spins game. Instead you get stacked wild reels, which a god will blow from right to left (with free respins each time). An entertaining idea - though could do with one or two more features.
  • King of Olympus: This Age of the Gods jackpot slot features Zeus. The free spins game has an increasing multiplier, which means those last couple of spins become very important. A fully wild 3rd reel adds to the possibilities.

Myths slots have been a staple for many years – and the Age of the Gods range hits the balance between solid games and interesting bonus features. Definitely worth a look, even if you don’t hit the random progressive jackpot feature, there are plenty of ways to win big.

Stand Alone PlayTech Jackpot Slots

Gladiator Jackpot Slot PlayTechPlenty of games to get through here, I have listed them in size order (bigger jackpots first). Of course, they get won all the time – so the order might flip.

Gladiator Jackpot: This slot is themed around the movie of the same name. It is solid and enjoyable. If the multiplier free spins does not do it for you, then the jackpot prize of more than $1 million (at the time of writing) should do the trick. I show the details in my detailed Gladiator slot review

Gong Xi Fa Chi: Asian slots are all the rage these days (though don’t ask me what the name means!). This title also has a $1 million+ prize pool at the time of writing.

Frankie Dettorie’s Magic Seven: One for the horse racing fans. This game showcases the famous jockey, has a horse-race bonus + free spins game. At the time of writing the progressive jackpot is more than £300,000.

Jackpot Giant: There is something likeable about the supposedly menacing giant who hosts this slot. You do need to bet max to be in with a shot at the progressive. There is plenty to like about the game-play, with a fun bonus game involving throwing coins into volcanoes!

Beach Life: This is an older slot. While the graphics are dated (putting it politely), the jackpot at more than £100k (again, can change) is worth hitting. You can spin to some beach-party calypso sounds.

To save this list becoming huge – here are some other PlayTech stand-alone jackpot slots worth a look.

  • Everybody’s Jackpot
  • Deep Blue Jackpot
  • Ronnie O’Sullivan Sporting Legends

What to Check Before Playing PlayTech Jackpot Slots?

Advice Before You Enjoy PlayTech SlotsIf you are experienced with online casinos, then you can skip this section. You’ll already know about some of the tricks and traps that less reputable casinos use to make claiming your jackpot wins more difficult than it should be!

For the rest of us… take note of these 3 things before you jump in and play the PlayTech jackpot slots.

  1. Licensed Brands Only: All reputable casinos have operating licenses. This gives you a body to appeal to should you feel your casino has treated you badly. UK licenses are worth looking for (even if you are not in the UK). The Gambling Commission is strict, and you’ll know the finances of your casino are in good standing. Look for Malta / Alderney / Gibraltar or Isle of Man licenses too. Never play a jackpot slot at an unlicensed / unknown casino.
  2. Check the Withdrawal Limits: Some less reputable casinos have low withdrawal maximums each month. You would not want to win a big progressive, only to find you can only get $3k a month. This information should be in the terms and conditions. Again, if you are with a well known / reputable (and licensed) brand, this is less of an issue.
  3. Scandal Free: If a casino has cheated on paying jackpots, or honouring bonuses, before – then a quick search is bound to reveal the story. You’ll need to ignore the idiots who cry because they lost 5 hands of blackjack in a row. Making sure a casino does not have any issues with paying out players is always worth a few minutes of your time.
