Sticky Wilds, Drop Icons and Amazing Animations in this Rival Gaming Slot
My first ever spin on Alien Spinvasion resulted in a lot of confusion. A general appeared, giving me free spins – no idea why or how. The graphics changed to a crazy red scene. Spin after spin, lasers appeared and zapped symbols, creating extra wins. By the time I had even a small clue what was going on, we were back to the base game! Here, sticky wilds seemed to get me respins… a lot of fun, though very confusing fun!
Since that crazy introduction to this Rival Gaming online slot, I have got to grips with the game-play. Here I have explained how it all works, step-by-step.

One thing you won’t be able to miss with this game are the brilliant animations and effects. This is right up there with the best of what you’ll find online and has a sense of humour to match.
Transparent Reels and 50 Win-Lines
This game has transparent reels. This means you will spin over the curved view of a planet, complete with clouds. The grid is a 5-reel, 3 row standard setup. On this you’ll find a full 50 win-lines – that’s most of the obvious left to right combinations. Bets start at 50c, though you can go a lot higher by adding more coins, and by increasing the coin size.
To win, you’ll need to hit 3 or more of the crazy symbols on a win-line from the left-hand side. These include classic flying saucer space ships, ray-guns, the planet Earth, an alien looking yellow blob and a pitted moon (or maybe asteroid). There are also playing card symbols in play. These have been given a 3D effect design to help them fit in with the other symbols.
Green men from outer space spring to mind with the alien symbol. This one has a single huge eye, and worried looking expression. When you see the symbol, it says ‘Wild +1’ to the right-hand side of the worried alien. On the spin that you hit it, the wild simply replaces any of the other symbols to create extra wins. It is possible to create more than one on occasion. Next, it goes solid bright green, and the reels respin. There is no extra cost for this respin. If you hit another wild, then you get both stuck to the reels and another respin – and so on.
Each respin comes with a multiplier. You get 2x for the first, then 3x, 5x, 7x and 11x if your sequence keeps going. Keep in mind that you’ll have a lot of wilds in place by the time you hit the top multiplier.
Army General and Free Spins
You’ll meet quite a character when the army general appears. Hs has a big chin, moustache, and very impressive mono-brow.
He appears completely at random and awards you 11 free spins. The impressive background to these looks like the aftermath of a space battle. You’ll see reds and oranges. Drop icons are symbols which get blasted with lasers. These disappear, causing the symbols above to fall down. This is a version of the cascading reels used by several slot software makers these days.
It means that you can end up with a sequence of several wins on the same free spin.
Excellent 3D Space Design
The design of this slot is superb. You play as if seeing Earth from orbit, with pinks and blues of a starscape beyond. There are electric (or maybe plasma) beams at either side of the reels. One meets at the line number choice, and the other at the multipliers for the wild respins.
Symbols are drawn with a 3D effect. The ray gun is the stand out for me. This looks straight out of a 1950’s b-movie. There are some fun animations, even the moon flips over and around when it is involved in a win. Plenty of space sound effects contribute to keeping the theme entertaining.
When you hit the free spins game, the red background does make a refreshing change from the base game. This is worth a look. The general, and a big version of that green alien, will appear in front of the reels at different times while you are playing.
Wrapping Up: Should You Take the Alien Spinvasion from Rival Gaming for a Spin?
A wonderful, light-hearted slot with some serious big-win potential. I think Rival Gaming have done an excellent job with the production of this one. The graphics are what will draw you in, though once there you will find plenty to keep you entertained.
Wilds which trigger respins is great on its own. When those same wilds get multipliers, you know that you have a potentially big on-reel feature. The key bonus is the free spins game. Here you can win several times on each spin. This is due to ‘drop symbols’ which get zapped with lasers, allowing other symbols to fall into their spaces.
Overall, Alien Spinvasion is a brilliant slot, I can see this one becoming the go-to game of some players.
