The Winning Dead Slot from Arrows Edge

A Fast-Paced Slot Featuring the Zombie Apocalypse

Despite the clever pun on the Walking Dead TV shows, this slot is nothing like the Walking Dead slots from Aristocrat that you will find in live casinos. There are still some great reasons to play. It has some fun 3D animations, and one of the best mock-demonic laughs I have found. You get to choose your host before you spin. There is the chainsaw wielding Jackson, and pistol packing Anna Belle. From a design point of view, the highlight is game where you get to shoot zombies.

You’ll get a shot at winning the ‘Super Slots’ jackpot when playing the Winning Dead. This is linked between many of the Arrows Edge premium slots. There are more opportunities to win in the free spins game. This involves a 3x win multiplier.

Planet Mark’s Note: The US-friendly Drake Casino have a 100 free spins offer on the Winning Dead, no deposit needed. This could be the start of a big casino bankroll (zombies willing!). Use coupon code FREESPINS to claim your spins at www.drakecasino.eu

Before You Walk to the Winning Dead Slot: The Setup

I like the way the reels look like they have been put together with a makeshift wood and barbed wire frame. In front of an abandoned city street, you’ll find a 5-reel slot with 3 symbols on each. You can adjust the number of win lines – with 25 set as both the maximum and the default.

Bets are in increments of 25c, and auto play is available too.

Zombies and Survivors: The Winning Combinations

It is the two survivors that top the pay table. These are Jackson and Anne Belle. Jackson has the biggest single prize of the game – this is 5,000 coins if you line up 5 of a kind. You’ll get 200 coins for 4, 20 for 3 and 5 coins for just 2. Anne also pays all the way down to 2 of a kind, though the maximum prize is 500 coins for 5 if a kind.

Some weapons follow next, with a pistol worth 200 coins and a chainsaw covered in green slime also worth 200.

Playing card filler type symbols have been used. These have been designed in a grungy font and in bright green colours – fitting right in with the theme.

Special symbols on the reels include a zombie and some green serum in a syringe. The zombie is wild, substituting for all the other symbols. Any zombie wins are doubled compared to the standard pay table. The Syringe is a scatter, 3 or more of these will trigger the free spins bonus game.

Free Spins Games with a Zombie Host

During the main game, whichever character you picked at the start will ac as a host – standing to the right of the reels and reacting to the game. When the free spins kick in, a classic green zombie takes this role. The city behind the reels is now engulphed in flames too.

You’ll get 10 free spins, which run through fast. Any win you get during these is tripled. Zombies will still double wins. This takes the top possible win to a huge 30,000 coins during this bonus feature. It is possible to retrigger this bonus for 10 more spins with 3+ syringes.

Zombie Shooting Bonus Feature

What zombie slot would be complete without a chance to kill a few of the undead. If you get 3 zombies in the main game on the middle 3 reels, you’ll have this chance.

First, you see a paper map graphic, this unrolls to show 4 locations. These are the graveyard, amusement park, city and school. You pick one and get sent to that location. In the foreground, you will see a gun, as if you were holding it at arm’s length. Next, zombies dig holes and appear in different spots, one at a time.

All you need to do is put your mouse on them and press the button. This shoots each zombie and awards a cash prize. I did not try to deliberately miss to see what happened, though as long as you want to hit, this is very easy to do. You get 5 zombies in total, before the game ends and your prize is awarded.

Classic Zombies and Cartoon Design

The Winning Dead slot has a bright, cartoon-like look to it… nothing like the gritty realism of the Walking Dead TV show. The avatars which stand by the reel are 3D, though not massively detailed. They move a lot more than other similar avatars

Behind the reels you will see a full moon, purple sky and dark buildings. The reels are semi-transparent and enclosed within a barbed wire and wood frame which looks like the survivor characters threw it together.

Symbols are also on the plain side, with the zombie (together with his demonic sound) the only one to stand out for me. This is the classic cartoon zombie and is bright green to fit with this. There are small animations, for example the pistol will wave around when it is involved in a win.

Graphics are fun for the free spins. Here the zombie host works well, and the city behind the reels is engulphed in flames. In the shooting game, the backgrounds / settings look great, though there is not too much depth to the game-play.

Will Cashing in on the Winning Dead Be a Walk in the Park?

If you enjoy a fast, fun and zombie-filled slot, then the Winning Dead is more than worth a quick spin. There are classic zombie themes involved. Not just the bald green guy, but things like the chainsaw and abandoned entertainment park. I like the 3D hosts, and that demonic laughter too.

There are three ways to win big. First, a jackpot can drop at any time. Second, a 3x multiplier in the free spins, combined with a 2x wild multiplier, can give you big line hits. Third, a picks game where you get to shoot zombies can add a lot of coins.

You can find this Arrows Edge slot, along with many other original titles (plus BetSoft slots!) at Drake Casino.
