A Big Win on this Werewolf Themed Slot Will Have You Howling (to the moon) With Joy!
I’m a sucker for a good Werewolf themed slot, and this Ash Gaming number – Full Moon Fortunes – certainly fits the bill. It follows the fortunes of a gentleman called Dr. Blackwood, who had an unfortunate incident one night, and now gets a little furry when the full moon appears.
You’ll be happy to see Dr. Blackwood get wolf-like. There are two scenarios in which this happens, and both can lead to some bigger wins. The first is when a moon symbol hits reel 5. The second scenario is even better, the free spins bonus round sees a blood moon over the reels – and multiplier wilds on them.
This game has a gothic look and feel. The production is excellent, with spooky sound effects and stone arches in the main game. When the main bonus feature starts, you’ll be sent to a creepy graveyard.

Key Features of the Full Moon Fortunes Slot
A minor feature, that can result in surprisingly big wins, is a special full moon feature on reel 5. During standard play, the symbols showing a gentleman by the name of Dr. Blackwood are wild – replacing other symbols to create additional wins.
When you hit that full moon, you’ll see some changes. The doctor will go from human to furry, and then look decidedly wolf-like, complete with fangs. This is still a wild symbol – though now a multiplier is added. This can be up to 5x, turning some ordinary wins into sudden big prizes.
Feature #2: Full Moon Fortunes Free Spins Bonus Game
Multipliers can get even bigger in the free spins bonus. First, you go through a picks game. This is set in a beautifully drawn graveyard scene. You get to click on grave after grave. Some will offer a multiplier, others more free spins. You keep on clicking, hoping to avoid that ‘collect’ symbol until you accumulate a lot of wins. If you trigger this game with 4 or 5 special gravestone symbols, rather than the minimum 3, you will start with extra spins and multipliers.
When you return to the reels, you will find the scene has changed. There is a full moon in red, known as a blood moon, over the reels. This means that Dr. Blackwood will turn into a special multiplier wild on every spin. The best is still to come, the multipliers can work together. The maximum win multiplier during the free spins shoots up to 25x the wins advertised on the pay table!
Full Moon Fortune Base Game and Regular Wins
After the excitement of the free spins, the base game has its own creepy feel. I like the way that the slot controls are all made to look like gravestones!
The single biggest line prize comes from a wild symbol. This shows the classic / cliched wolf silhouetted against the full moon. You can almost feel the howl just by looking at it. This symbol is worth 500 coins for 5 of a kind, with 300 coins for 4 and 100 coins for just 3. It also replaces the other symbols (all except the bonus one) to create more wins.
Next on the list of higher paying symbol is a detailed gold jewel. I’m not sure whether this is tied in with werewolf stories, or unique to this slot. Either way, you’ll get 300 coins for the maximum 5 of them. Dr Blackwood comes next, without the full moon he just looks like a somewhat serious doctor – worth a maximum of 200 coins.
Gothic styled playing card symbols are the fillers / lower paying ones for this slot.
Setup, Lines and Betting
The setup is very standard, with 20 win-lines (that number is fixed), over a 5 reels game. Each reel shows 3 symbols. You can enjoy Full Moon Fortunes for as little as 1c per line or 20c per spin. The auto-play option included will let you spin up to 99 times without clicking. You will find a turbo play option in the pop-up which appears when you press auto-play.
The info button on the left-hand gravestone will give you a detailed pay table plus screen shots of the different features.
Graveyards and Werewolves Slot Design
This slot feels very smooth and fast when you press the spin button. The reels are enclosed within stone arches, like you were looking out from a gothic church. They are semi-transparent, which means you see a desolate graveyard beyond when the reels are spinning.
Some of the symbols are detailed – with the gold and ruby jewel sticking out – others are plain, giving the slot a nice balance. One of the winning symbols is a silver bullet. This supposedly kills werewolves. Now, call me a pedant, though I’m rooting for our Dr Blackwood to turn furry as often as possible. This is what gives the win multipliers. I would suggest that the fewer silver bullets appear the better!
Sound effects include storms, and howls – a perfect accompaniment to the visual effects. The best graphics appear in the graveyard picks game.
How Does Full Moon Fortunes Compare to Other Werewolf Slots?
This is an enjoyable slot, albeit one with only one bonus game (and an on-reel extra). I enjoyed the theme, which is nicely produced. The occasional full moon in the base game can make an outsized difference to the wins that it generates. It is the free spins game where things really take off. You can get multipliers of up to 25x on your wins!
