The biggest change to the PokerStars Steps is actually to tidy things up a little! Where before there were several parallel Steps ‘ladders’ as poker satellites to the EPT / LAPT / PCA and so on – there is now a single ladder going all the way to Step 5, then different Step 6’s where the prize pools reflect the event (and thus prize package) on offer.
In addition there are now poker satellites into the Steps themselves. This is via a “Steps Special’ 60FPP qualifier with 100 players. The first place finisher gets a Step 2 ticket, with places 2 to 10 giving an entry into Step1. In our opinion the extremely weak fields in this new tournament make this a profitable use of FPPs for those with the time to spare.
