The dark and cold winter of Jan 2010 will be somewhat sunnier for a record number of poker players this year – as the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Held between the 4th and 14th of January 2010 in the paradise resort of the Atlantis in the Bahamas, the ‘PCA’ $10k main event is actually part of the PokerStars-sponsored European Poker Tour (see our detailed article on the Best EPT Qualifiers for more on this tour).

Packages currently being given away by Stars are actually worth $15,100 and include travel, accommodation at the amazing Atlantis Resort and spending money in addition to the $10k main event buy-in. PokerStars Caribbean Adventure 2009 – Satellite Qualifiers

The number of satellites running on Stars is simply staggering, with something for every pocket and several different game preferences. Here is an overview of the main types of Satellite Qualifiers for the PokerStars Carribean Adventure.

PCA Steps Qualifiers: These are single table SNG tournaments, the top places winning tickets to the next level up. With the lowest (Step #1) entry fee at just $7.50c and a total of 6 stages (the event packages are awarded in Step #6) these are already hugely popular.

PCA MTT Qualifiers: Starting at just $2, the multi-table tournament satellites take several formats including turbos, rebuys and sub-qualifiers. Packages are awarded in $700 buy-in ‘supersatellite’ qualifiers as well as $33+ Rebuy 3x Turbo direct qualifiers.

PCA Double Shootout Qualifiers: Double Shootouts are again based on the 1-table tournament format, only this time the winners of 10 tables meet at a ‘final table’ to play for either a package or an entry to one of the higher buy-in tournaments. This form of satellites are usually introduced close to the time of  the event.

PCA Freeroll Fantasy : PokerStars look after their loyal players very well indeed and freeroll qualifiers to events such as the PCA are no exception. 27 Packages will be given away on Sunday the 6th December 2009 in 3 separate qualifiers to suit all timezones each giving 9 seats. You can qualify in the daily 'free to enter' sub-qualifiers or via $1.10c (or 5FPP) satellites.
