Step Sit N Go Tournaments At Party Poker Are Still Setting The Standard
– Our Complete Guide To Steps SNGs At Party Poker Explains All.
Party Poker were the first site to come up with the Steps SNG concept online way back in the early 2000’s. While many other poker sites now have their own versions and twists on the steps theme – in the eyes of many Party remain the standard setters. Steps Sit N Go tournaments at Party are for cash prizes only, contain no early exit points – and can very easily turn a $3 start into a huge $2000 payout!
I am rewriting this article to fit in with the standard Steps reviews as part of the Complete Guide To Steps SNG Tournaments series. First the games and buy-in levels will be discussed. Next variations and exit points are usually covered – though since there are none at Party I’ll use this space for a general view on the SNG tournaments there. Finally a short comparison with other sites offering steps at the end.
If you have not discovered that Party Poker are still one of the easiest poker sites after all these years then now is the time to do so. Not only will you find the games more profitable than at most other sites, you can benefit from their bonuses, promotions and loyalty scheme too – which get better and better. Party Poker Steps SNG Tournaments – Games And Buy-In Levels
This will be one of the simplest Steps setups to describe – with only No Limit Holdem, only 10 player tables, and only one speed. The only small complication comes with the try again prizes and the number of people who move up for each level. The step-up prizes vary from 2 to 3, with some ‘step down’ try again tickets going back down the buy-ins and offering prizes for up to 7th place in some levels.
Here are those buy-ins, like all Party SNGs, the fees are not shown separately but included in the price of entry.
Step #1 - $3
Step #2 – 10
Step #3 - $30
Step #4 - $70
Step #5 - $170
Step #6 - $500
Prizes at Step 6 are nicely spread out – so that 5 of the 10 entrants will walk away with a prize. There are no ‘try again’ spots at Step 6: Prizes are:
1st Place: $2000
2nd Place: $1000;
3rd Place: $700
4th and 5th Place: $500

Party Poker Steps SNGs – Exit Points And Alternative Paths
Simple here – there are no exit points. You can buy-in at any stage along the way and from there you keep going until you reach step 6 or bust! In my opinion there is some room here for qualifiers to the Monthy Million or weekly $300k tournaments, this would ensure that the lower levels were filled up even more at the weekends too.
Instead a general note for SNG fans about Party Poker. First up you should avoid the $6 SNGs and below – since the fees are higher than elsewhere. Having said that the 1-table games in particular are extremely profitable here, I would recommend non-US players to check them out when deciding on a place to build up a bankroll.
Party Poker Steps SNGs – Comparison With Other Sites + Next Steps
Party Steps are more limited in scope than elsewhere. The main pluses are the large amounts of ‘try again’ prizes and also the 5 places paid in Step 6. This gives you value and winning potential which is absent from the sites where you can only win tournament entries. You will also find the competition at Party to be extremely soft compared with the larger sites – not only in the Steps SNGs but in the cash games and tournaments too.
