2015 WSOP Satellite Qualifiers At Pokerstars

Pokerstars Passport Gives You The Opportunity
To Get To Many Premier Live Events Including The 2015 World Series!

Update Note: The SCOOP is coming soon, and PokerStars usually focus on qualifiers for those tournaments before they offer World Series Qualifiers. The PokerStars passport system does still run in parallel. I will let you know right here as soon as any 'proper' qualifiers appear. Info below is from last year for the moment.

It seems to me that Pokerstars have a new strategy for the World Series of Poker these days. Instead of pushing hard with the online qualifiers, they seem to be waiting for the winner – and then simply offering a big contract to join their team of pros! Of course, you can still qualify for the Main Event via the world's biggest poker site... In fact, the way they have set up their qualifiers means that you can choose which event to enter with your $13,000 prize package. This can include fantastic tournaments from the European Poker Tour list, maybe the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure - or you can fly to Vegas and take part in the biggest one of all - Poker's World Series.

What tends to happen at PokerStars is that bigger qualifiers kick in after their online Spring Championship (SCOOP) finishes at the end of May. There are plenty of ways to get yourself to the 'Main Event Passport' qualifiers right now, so no need to wait.

Pokerstars.com 2015 World Series Qualifiers - The Packages On Offer

Once you win a live tournament entry via the Passport supersatellites – you get a package worth $13,000. This covers the typical $10k entry + $3k for your expenses.

Here is the curious thing – last year, if you selected many other tours (such as the EPT) you’ll find terms and conditions are very strict on ‘non-transferrable’ and ‘non-refundable’…. While if you choose to take the World Series Main Event package then you get the $13k directly into your player account… with a message saying that the arrangements and registration are entirely up to you!

So, if you wanted, you could treat these qualifiers like a regular tournament (complete with amateur-filled fields) with a $13k prize... I know some readers would have a dilemma on their hands with $13k available - would your significant other let you fly??!?

Pokerstars 2015 Main Event Qualifiers – How To Win Your Seat

pokerstars passport qualifiersWherever you want to play, the choice at Pokerstars is amazing at the lower buy-in levels. They have set up the qualifiers as a funnel into the $700 weekly Passport Supersatellites where the seats to the events themselves are won (1 seat is guaranteed each time which ensures that there is plenty of interest).

Depending on what outlay you feel comfortable with you can join $109 qualifiers to the supersatellite, or start with just $3 – or even use up your Pokerstars frequent player points (5000 point direct qualifiers, or plenty of smaller games). SNGs, rebuys and hyper turbos can also be found in the massive PokerStars qualfier section. For the biggest possible selection I recommend you check out the games on Sundays, before the big qualifier game. This has the double advantage of playing the sub-qualifiers with plenty of amateurs.

One alternative which is great for those players short on time are the Steps Sit N Go tournaments. These are set up as a series of progressively higher buy-ins starting at $7.50c. If you finish 1st or 2nd then you get a ticket to the next level, with some ‘try again’ spots below this. Step 6 typically awards 1 live event package for the winner, along with some smaller runner-up prizes. The 'Main Event Passport' Step 6 games is give out the $13k packages. You can find out more about Steps here.

Pokerstars World Series Qualifiers – Summary / Next Steps

What I like about the qualifiers at Pokerstars is that the huge number of players online ensure there is a huge choice of sub-qualifiers. While the regular games at this site tend to have more small-stakes pros, the satellites are an exception – with a lot of recreational players taking a shot.. And why not, it was Chris Moneymaker’s $30 satellite turning into a main event win that kicked off the entire poker boom way back in 2003!
