The Poker Dog
This article compares two great US-Friendly Poker Sites, Carbon and Bodog. For great information on many other sites which allow US Players including Poker Stars, Full Tilt and UB check out some of the excellent resources listed in the box on the right hand side.
Carbon Poker is a relatively new entrant to the market – easy deposit options and a very generous 200% sign-up bonus mean this site is growing fast… and attracting many inexperienced opponents too.
Bodog Poker is longer established and also growing in recent years – the fishiness of this site is largely due to the large number of players who come from the casino and sportsbook areas of the site.
If you prefer making easy money over challenging the best online poker players then this head-2-head review is for you. We will objectively compare Carbon and Bodog on a number of criteria – and answer the question: Which is the fishiest US online poker site?
Fishiest US Online Poker Site – Criteria #1 – Cash Games
Carbon Poker: This site offer No-Limit Holdem games from 2c / 4c up to $25 / $50 with the $1 / $2 and below being the busiest. Percentage of players per flop are very large – as are the average pot sizes. A snapshot of the tables (taking out the extremes of both high and low) reveals % to flop at 46% to 54% and average pot size at 50c / $1 to be around $17 – now that is fishy!

Bodog Poker: This site have more cash tables available than Carbon, the three-tables per player maximum keeps the multi-table grinders away. Ranges are between 5c / 10c and $25 / 50 as usual the low to mid-stakes are the busiest. 36% to 45% players per flop is common at all levels up to $1 / $2, even higher at the 10c / 25c and below. Average pot size at 50c / $1 between $12 and $15 (again taking out the extremes of high and low)…. Still pretty damn fishy by any players standards!

Fishiest US Online Poker Site – Criteria #2 – Tournaments / Sit N Goes
Carbon Poker: From freerolls through to the $20k Gtd – there is something for every player in the Carbon Poker tournament schedule, even including mixed games and Badugi! Field sizes tend to be smaller and the buy-in levels biased towards $20 and under. Sit N Go tournaments range from $2+20c up to many hundreds of dollars, in our personal experience these games are much fishier than at the larger sites – especially up to the $30 range.
Bodog Poker: This site is famous for the number of ‘Overlay Tournaments’ in which the prize pool is bigger than the sum of the entries. Good No-Limit Holdem tournament selection – though not the same range of games as with Carbon. The Sit N Go tournaments at Bodog are amazingly soft and again start at $2+20c, these are fast to fill and a good source of profit – especially if you are used to playing the SNGs at the bigger poker sites.
Fishiest US Online Poker Site – Criteria #3 – Bonuses And Promotions
Carbon Poker: The sign-up bonus for new players at Carbon Poker is a 200% match up to $600 (you need to use bonus code SNGPLANET to claim this). As a newer site they are aggressively marketing by offering multiple incentives to gain players – this includes reload bonuses and some special promotions such as half-price SNGS. Check out their website for the latest promotions on offer.
Bodog Poker:The Bodog Poker Sign-up bonus is 110% up to $550 (no special code is required – every new player receives this). This bonus is actually in 2 parts, with the 10% part actually being ‘unlimited’ and clearing at 100% of SNG / Tournament fees. The 100% to $500 clears fast too and is just the start of the incentives offered by this excellent US-Poker site.
Fishiest US Online Poker Site – Summary and SNG Planet Verdict
With both sites being markedly fishier than their bigger rivals this comes down to a personal preference as much as anything. Bodog have a wider selection of cash games, tournaments and SNGs – yet a smaller sign-up bonus. The tables at Carbon Poker are statistically more fishy, yet there are less to choose from, especially outside of peak hours.
However, players looking for bonuses and promotions to boost their bankrolls can really not go wrong with Carbon at the moment.
