Cleopatra Slots are Infamous - This Guide to IGT's Cleopatra Slots Explains All
If you’re a slot fan and regularly play in land based casinos, you’ll almost certainly have played the Cleopatra slot at some point on your travels, one of the most popular slots ever to hit the casino floor – either the sit down IGT Game King slot or the upright version of the game. Such was the success of the slot, it was a sure bet that Cleopatra would make the move to online casinos. This has proved a great success. The original version was a faithful reproduction of the online game, while more recently they added the opportunity of winning IGT’s biggest online Jackpot in the ‘MegaJackpots’ to the slot. This has been followed up by a second version of the online game in Cleopatra II, which once again has the Jackpot opportunity.
In this review I take a look at both of the online games, with a detailed look at the first game and explaining what changes have been made in the second version. I finish with a look at the MegaJackpots prize fund, detailing exactly what you can expect to win when you do land the big one!
Cleopatra Slot Overview
The Cleopatra slot is five reel game with twenty pay lines. Upon entering you’ll find yourself in a setting which appears to be some kind of golden Egyptian temple, with hieroglyphics adorning the title. On the reels you’ll find a variety of relevant symbols including the eye of Horus, a scarab beetle, a Sphinx and of course Cleopatra herself. You’ll also find the playing card symbols from 9 to Ace, these looking more impressive than usual with their ornate design. One of the standout aspects of the games is the fact that Cleopatra talks to you throughout your time at the game – her slightly seductive voice certainly adding to the game.
The biggest wins (aside from the progressive Jackpot) come when landing Cleopatra five times in a row on a win line, her symbol also being the wild, therefore substituting for any other symbol enabling many more additional wins. The Sphinx symbol is the scatter and if you can land three or more of these across any of the reels you’ll enter the bonus feature.
This feature is a free spins round, where you’ll gain an impressive 15 free games. Even better is the fact that each and every win will be multiplied by 3, making for a very nice feature. You can also retrigger the feature by landing 3 more scatters, another 15 spins being added to your total, up to a maximum of 180 spins.
To win the Jackpot prize pool you’ll need to hit the MegaJackpots symbol five times in a row on the center payline.
Cleopatra II Online Slot
The base game of the sequel is very similar to the original, the graphics being slightly updated and the reels now featuring Anubis, Horus and Bastet. The main difference in Cleopatra II is when it comes to the feature. The number of spins you’ll receive is based upon the number of scatters you land to activate the feature, 3 scatters giving you between 5 and 15 spins, 4 scatters giving you between 8 and 18 free spins and the maximum 5 scatters giving you between 10 and 20 free spins. Your first spin will see a 1x multiplier in place, but each additional spin will see this multiplier increase by 1. This means that the multiplier can become huge – your 20th free spin for example giving you a 20x multiplier. This free spins feature can be retriggered for a maximum of 50 spins (and a 50x multiplier!).
Cleopatra Slots Summary
Both of the Cleopatra games are very enjoyable with excellent bonus features. Which one you prefer will be based upon how much variance you enjoy in these bonuses. The first game gives you a solid 15 free spins with a 3x multiplier, while the second game will vary greatly, maybe seeing just 5 free spins with an average 3x multiplier or maybe 20 free spins with an average multiplier of 10.5x.
IGT MegaJackpots Slot
The MegaJackpots Jackpot is pooled across five IGT games, with Monopoly, Cluedo and Siberian Storm featuring alongside the two Cleopatra games. This means that the Jackpot pool will increase every time someone plays any of these five slots at any online casino, with the prize fund being reset when it is won. This Jackpot is one of the best you’ll find online, as the average win is in excess of £1 million. In fact the largest win ever, achieved in September 2013, was just over £2.1 million.
The IGT MegaJackpots differs from many other online Jackpots in the fact that should you win, you’ll be paid out in 20 annual instalments instead of one lump sum.
