USA Poker Deposit Options Update

With the implementation of the UIGEA finally coming around on June 1st, I thought it would be worth waiting until some of the dust settles before doing a quick round-up of what is working and what is not for USA poker deposit options…

We do have a dedicated article on the subject in our Poker Deposit Methods section, and also some room-specific guides, these will be updated next week (did not want to keep changing them while things are in flux). For obvious reasons I can not name any particular banks / card brands in this post… so, let us start with the good news!

eChecks are working jus great – these are available at the bigger sites (Stars / Tilt / Absolute) and are basically the equivalent of paper checks, just without the paper check. We have a guide to this deposit method here: eChecks Poker Deposits

The biggest issues are with debit and credit cards bearing the V and M brands… though some are actually working. Pre-paid visa depends on the card and the site… the well known brand ‘NS’ is reported to be no longer working with Stars / FT, while Ultimate Bet are reportedly not only welcoming this card – but offering a special bonus. Another major brand ‘AAV’ is also reported to be dead for poker deposits. Just about every discussion we saw mentioned that there were pre-paid cards which worked. Obviously publishing their names is a sure fire way of getting them stopped, my suggestion is that you mail the support department of your preferred poker site and ask them for your options.

Money Transfer using international money transfer organizations is still working fine, though not really feasable for the smaller deposits. Finally there are always inter-account transfers from trusted friends… just make sure they are really trusted!

So, the message 1 week on is echecks all the way… will be keeping a close eye on the situation with a view to updating those deposit method articles next week.

I really wish that they would just fix everything to where we could actually use our own bank cards and credit cards to deposit into online poker sites.

It’s our money – let us have it! They’re building several casinos where I live here in Ohio – so they have no issue with me walking into the casino to play but they don’t want me to play online?

Such a joke. I think I know what you mean by ‘AAV’ and that’s what I was using awhile back. It was working for me but it’s been months since I’ve deposited.

I’ve been making sure when I cash out to leave enough bankroll in so I don’t have to deposit again since they’ve made it so hard. I’d suggest everyone tries to do the same.
