Anyone else enjoying a surge in motivation for the New Year? 2011 was a challenging year business-wise for me. I’m happy to have come out fighting to the extent that I have now had 2 record months in a row in terms of revenue – despite my income being halved post Black-Friday. At the same time I’m sooo glad that tough year is over!

2012 is going to be the year I break through to the next level – I’m going to out work, out create, out write and out rank the competition!

Here are my new year resolutions, both for Planet Corp and me personally, at a high level first, then in detail.

1) Double revenue from poker websites by December 2012.
2) Create 2 new income streams outside of the gambling industry.
3) Remove myself from the day to day running of websites.
4) Increase my fitness levels, continue regular running, better eating, run a half-marathon
5) Travel (always have this one!) to at least 3 brand new places

Probably a few more minor ones… family and all that good stuff which does not really need to be published here.

Here is the detail on some of those:

Double Income From Poker Websites

I documented some of the challenges and opportunities from 2011 in my review of the year post. Too many websites, and not enough resources to cope with them all would have summed it up nicely… then *boom* Black-Friday.

With the assets I have, doubling revenue this year should be a fun challenge. Here is the general plan:

- Increase visitors 25%: With no real link building / or proper social media strategy or advertising I am fortunate to enjoy big visitor numbers already. Updating some of my neglected languages and adding more great content should also help with this… Proper focus on those (natural!) links should boost me significantly – this is for all my key sites by the way, not just SNG Planet.
- Increase the number of signups / clicks per visitor by 25%. Nothing tricky, I’m going to do this the old-fashioned way with better content, better offers and better optimization… Part of this will be a SEO strategy involving ranking for ‘better’ (money!) terms – another huge opportunity which I have neglected so far.
- Increase the revenue received per signup / click by 25%. Seeing a pattern now? Getting better deals with rooms, hitting bonuses / revenue tiers, changing sites to those offering me more $ (I’m not going to start pushing crappy poker sites by the way, just introducing a little more competition among the big ones!). I should have a couple of different opportunities to negotiate as we go through the year and the player numbers continue to increase.

That sums it up for me, this will be a 96% increase in overall revenue when I hit all 3… so I’ll need to think of some new plans for that last 4%!!

Create Two New Income Streams Outside Of The Gambling Industry

I’ll post more on this around March… focus this month is replacing myself, and next month I am off for a long holiday. I have a long list of possible projects already – and my hyper active mind keeps coming up with new ideas too.

Remove Myself From The Day-To-Day Running Of Websites

One of the key issues last year was that I was ‘stuck’ updating my websites myself… should have got some more assistance on that a long time ago. This month is all about sharing these tasks with Gergely, who will be coming on-board and eventually managing SNG Planet and the Bonus Klub network of sites completely.
There are still some holes to fill with writing, which I will focus on later in the month.

Increase Fitness Levels

I’m ok with this already, running 3 or 4 times a week and eating reasonably healthy food. Going to push myself a little harder this year, increasing my daily runs to 8 to 10km rather than 5 to 6km at the moment. Choosing more fruit over chocolate, and more chicken / fish over red meat… topping this off with a half-marathon around mid-year.

Any entrepreneurs reading this who are not fit… just try it, you will be amazed how more productive you will become!

Travel To 3 New Places

My old favourite. This can be countries or cities. Going to Australia in February (always wanted to dive on the Great Barrier Reef) which is one from the list. Never actually made it to Las Vegas, so maybe I’ll add that one too… anyway, no rush to decide – hopefully more than 3 trips this year – just 3 of them should be new.
