Started working yesterday after my xmas break, it feels great – I’m just not the kind of person who can do nothing for very long without getting frustrated. Most of my focus at the moment is on my site reviews, with some new thinking behind these as well as new words. This post will also cover 2 excellent promotions for poker tournament fans in Jan ’12 – one from Party and the other from Stars. First up those reviews. It is surprising how fast they can go out of date, though this was not my main reason for a revamp. I got thinking about the speed people read the web and the kind of information someone looking for a review might be after… and decided mine did not really match any more. Oh, and they were ugly too!
My new version is in progress – only the Titan Poker Review up at the moment – this includes 2 new things. First a summary box at the top with my overall opinion and key facts in super-fast format. This is designed for those who thought they might like a review… when what they really wanted was confirmation that the site in question is safe, cool and / or fun! Second, instead of too much detail on the buy-in levels, navigation through the lobby and avatar choices (for example) I have made the sections on different games ‘lighter’. Sure, the hard info is needed – however so many reviews are just dry lists of this info these days… so I made an effort to lighten up, give people the highlights and to make it easier to scan / find the sections which interest you.. time and user statistics will tell if I was right with this thinking... Will have Pokerstars and Red Kings up later today – with a couple more to follow before the new year… since they do take a few hours each to finish, so I’ll do the smaller rooms next year.
January 2012 Tournament Promotions – Party Go ‘Fee-Free’ Again + The TCOOP Party Poker Fee-Free January.
After a successful run last summer – Party return with fee-free tournaments from Jan 1st through Jan 31st. You’ll be around 10% better off there, with all of your buy-in going straight to the prize pool. What Party are hoping is that people find tournaments they enjoy and continue playing them after the promo ends. In addition, they have a reload bonus tied to the promo – if you deposit $50 with the code RAKEFREE they will double-match this with $100… If you don’t yet have a Party account I recommend you take the standard 100% sign-up bonus (bonus code SNGPLANET) up to $500, then add this one on top before the end of January with an additional deposit. You will get entry into a $50k depositors freeroll too. Click This Link To Check Out Party Poker Now!
Pokerstars TCOOP TCOOP stands for ‘Turbo Championship Of Online Poker’ and is the latest addition to the Stars event schedule with the Spring and World Championships. As you might have guessed from the name, the tournaments are all turbo-speed! Guaranteeing $10,000,000 in prizes, this event covers 50 tournaments starting on Jan 19th through to the 29th. What I liked about these games is that there are a lot of lower to middle buy-ins with big prize pools – and a lot of satellite qualifiers scheduled to give smaller bankroll poker fans a shot at the big money. There are different games and structures within the heading of ‘Turbo’. These include 2x and 3x turbos (rebuys with very fast structures). 1 rebuy / 1 add-on events and Hyper-Turbo games too. Games start at just $5.50c, with the main event ($1.5 Million Gtd) having a $700 entry prize. There is a high roller event too. This looks like a great way of escaping those mid-winter blues… You will find the full schedule and a detailed FAQ over at Pokerstars.com
